Cloud Cost Optimization

Cloud bills grow by default and shrink only by design. Our reference engagement took ~$10,000 a month off a client’s bill — not with reserved-capacity tricks, but by fixing how the workloads actually ran. This service is that discipline, productized: audit, rank, fix, guardrail.

What You Get

Every line item earns its keep, or it goes.

The bill, explained

Spend mapped to workloads and owners. The first deliverable is simply knowing — most clients have never had the bill translated into their own business terms.

Fixes ranked by savings

Each finding priced: what it saves per month, what it costs to fix, what it risks. You choose with real numbers; quick wins go first.

Root causes, not haircuts

The expensive patterns — full-table scans, idle resources, wrong storage tiers, oversized instances — fixed at the source, so savings persist instead of evaporating next quarter.

Guardrails after the fix

Budgets, alerts, and review rhythms that catch the next waste while it’s still small.

Scope

What’s included.

  • Line-by-line bill audit — every service, every major resource, attributed
  • Workload profiling — query and usage patterns behind the biggest lines (data platforms especially)
  • Ranked fix list — savings, effort, and risk per fix
  • Quick-win implementation — the top fixes executed with your team
  • Commitment advice — reserved/committed-use decisions made on evidence
  • Guardrail setup — budgets, anomaly alerts, monthly review format
FAQ

Questions about this service.

Can’t our cloud provider’s console do this?
Consoles flag idle resources and sell commitments. The expensive waste is usually in how workloads run — query patterns, data layout, retry storms — which consoles don’t judge. That’s engineering work, and it’s where the ~$10K/month was hiding.
Will optimization hurt performance?
Fixes are ranked with risk attached, and performance-sensitive changes are measured before and after. Several of our reference fixes made systems faster and cheaper — waste and slowness are usually the same bug.
Do you take a percentage of savings?
No. Fixed-scope audit, priced in advance. Percentage-of-savings models reward finding waste slowly; we’d rather be done.
What access do you need?
Read-only billing and usage access to start. Implementation changes happen with your team, in your accounts, under your change process.
